Businesses from across the events and exhibition industry will again be donning their cricket whites next month in order to raise money for charity. The eleventh edition of the industry’s ever-popular Sticky Wicket tournament will take place in Regents Park, with all the proceeds going to the Lord's Taverners.

LiveBuzz, the leading event registration, website and staffing provider, is sponsoring the event for the first time. After an intense day’s competition in Regent’s Park on July 12th, all players and spectators will be invited to the LiveBuzz after-party which takes place in the Thomas Lord Suite at the nearby Lord’s Cricket Ground.

sticky wicket afterparty v2The organiser of the event, respected industry stalwart, Mervyn Ramsey comments: “The Lord's Taverners aim to raise money for disabled and disadvantaged children across the country. By raising over £325,000 over the past ten years, the Sticky Wicket initiative has been able to fund a number of initiatives to provide these children with the help they need.”

Recently, the 2016 competition raised sufficient funds to provide Linden Lodge School, a sensory and physical colleague in Wimbledon, with a 16 seater minibus. The school’s pupils have a range of disabilities, including cerebral palsy, autism and profound learning difficulties. The minibus allows them to gain access to activities away from school, such as swimming and visits to beaches, theatres and museums.

Similarly, the 2017 competition aims to raise money to pay for a minibus for the Markfield Project in Tottenham. Markfield is a charity designed to promote the dignity, independence and inclusion of disabled people and their families. Their services include after-school clubs, holiday play schemes and youth projects for disabled children and their siblings.

Ahead of the event, Justin Craig, joint managing director at LiveBuzz, said: “I’m really proud that LiveBuzz can sponsor this wonderful event as it heads into its eleventh year. Since its creation, Sticky Wicket has quickly become been a stand-out day on the events industry calendar. It’s a fantastic opportunity to catch up with colleagues and peers in a relaxed and sociable environment. I’m a genuine believer that philanthropy and promotion can co-exist. At the event we are blatantly trying to raise profile of LiveBuzz’s incredible Event Website Business, but more importantly though, it’s a brilliant way to raise money for a well-known charity which does so much to provide children with the help and support they need.”

This year’s event takes place at The Hub, a multi-sports centre in Regents Park. The action is set to start at 10:30, with the final around 16:00. There will also be a raffle and auction before the focus shifts to the brand new LiveBuzz after-party at Lords’ from 18:00 onwards. Tickets and more information are available at www.stickywicket.org.
